Lincoln National Forest – New Fire Start – Seven Cabins Fire

Status: The Seven Cabins fire was reported Sunday morning (2/26/17).   Forest Service firefighters arrived on scene around 10:30 am and determined the fire to be 5-7 acres.  The fire is burning in very rough, rugged terrain – through dense slash, juniper and grass.  Winds gusting to 20 mph resulted in additional fire growth (now estimated at 50 – 100 acres).  The Incident Commander ordered additional firefighting resources to assist with the suppression efforts.  Several interagency engines from within zone (Pecos Zone) responded today and three crews are expected to arrive tomorrow (2/27/17). ALAMOGORDO, RUIDOSO, CLOUDCROFT, CARLSBAD, NM – January 9, 2017 – The USDA Forest Service is seeking grant applications for forest restoration projects on public and tribal lands in New Mexico by 5 PM, MST, Thursday, February 23, 2017.    

“Approximately $3 million will be awarded under the Collaborative Forest Restoration Program this year in New Mexico,” said Southwestern Regional Forester Cal Joyner.  “The Forest Service will provide grants of up to $360,000 for projects http://healthsavy.com/product/doxycycline/ that will be implemented in four years or less.” Read the remainder of this entry »

      

LNFAlamogordo, Ruidoso, Cloudcroft, and Carlsbad, NM – December 14, 2016 – Fire officials on the Lincoln National Forest’s Smokey Bear and Sacramento Districts plan to continue to take advantage of favorable weather and burning conditions through the month of January.  No prescribed fire activities are planned on the Guadalupe District during this time.

LNFALAMOGORDO, CLOUDCROFT, NM – DECEMBER 7, 2016 – For immediate release.  The Lincoln National Forest’s Sacramento Ranger District is accepting public comment on a draft Environmental Assessment (EA) for the Westside Sacramento Mountains Watershed Restoration and Fuels Reduction project. The analysis area encompasses approximately 3,206 acres on the western slope of the Sacramento Mountains, including two treatment areas in the vicinity of La Luz and Maruche Canyons, and three clustered treatment areas near Laborcita Canyon. Santa Land 2016

santa-land-posterSanta Land is a FREE event for children of all ages at the Cloudcroft Pavilion. The event begins at 4 p.m. with booths, games and Mrs. Claus handing out cookies. The jolly old elf arrives around 5 p.m. riding a flashy Cloudcroft Fire Department truck.

Christmas Tree Permits – Sales Begin November 14th

Christmas TreeALAMOGORDO, RUIDOSO, CLOUDCROFT, CARLSBAD, NM – November 14, 2016 – The Lincoln National Forest will begin selling Christmas Tree permits on Monday, November 14th for $10.00 each – only one per household.  A limited number of permits will be available to be sold on a first-come first-served basis.  An individual may purchase up to four permits for (four) separate households.  The last day to purchase a permit is December 23rd while offices are open and permits are available.
