Cloudcroft “Friendliest Small Town” Videos

Rand McNally’s rally team “The Rogue Riders” were in town July 2nd – 5th to judge Cloudcroft in a competition to find The Best Small Towns in America. Cloudcroft is one of six finalists in the Friendliest Small Town category, competing with College Station, Texas; Frisco, Texas; Joplin, Mo.; Murray, Ky.; and San Luis Obispo, Calif. A win will not only give Cloudcroft bragging rights as the “Friendliest Small Town in America”, the town will also be featured in Rand McNally’s 2014 road atlas and have a feature story in USA Today. Mayor, Village Clerk and Village Residents,

We regret that we are not able to attend this evenings meeting.  We have asked that a representative of the village submit this statement to the attendees of this meeting.  We would like to clarify the rumors that have surfaced against Heart of Dreams Womens Healing Center.  Heart of Dreams is a private for profit S Corporation.  Heart of Dreams was intended to be a healing center for those women who needed those reinforcements to help them live a normal life style. Get the Facts on the “Buckhorn Renovation Project”

John Baldonado, owner of Canyon Light Counseling, is using the open forum of the August 16th 6:00PM Cloudcroft School Board meeting to give a presentation on “Heart of Dreams” his ongoing renovation project of the Buckhorn Cabins. We urge all interested parties to attend this meeting to get the facts about the proposed live-in facility directly from the owner. Lincoln National Forest Partially Reopens For Public Access

Alamogordo, NM (July 15, 2011) – “Recent precipitation along with higher humidity and increased fuel moisture that has lowered the fire danger allows me to reopen the Smokey Bear and Sacramento Ranger Districts for public access and use effective July 21, 2011,” said Robert Trujillo, Lincoln National Forest Supervisor. “The Guadalupe Ranger District will remain closed to public access and use as part of the Stage III Fire Restriction Closure Order until the District receives sufficient moisture to decrease the fire danger.” Read the remainder of this entry »

Special School Board Meeting June 20, 2011

Cloudcroft to Determine Fate of Proposed Four Day School Week
The Cloudcroft Board of Education will hold a special meeting on Monday, June 20, 2011 at 6:00 PM in the High School Commons, at #10 Swallow Place to take community input and vote on the four day week condensed school calendar for the 2011-2012 school year. The Board of Education had previously voted and passed the four day school week at the May 9, 2011 board meeting, but had failed to follow the legal process under which the four day schedule is to be implemented Read the remainder of this entry »

White Fire Ruidoso, NM – 4/3/2011

2:30PM – We have just received word that a wildfire has started in Ruidoso. Details are sketchy at this time, but we believe the fire is being called the White Fire and is North of Sudderth Drive and East of Gavilan Canyon. We are also being told air tankers and bulldozers have been requested. Sustained winds of 40 MPH have been recorded in Ruidoso today. Read the remainder of this entry »
