“The Western” Makes the Trail!

The votes have been tallied and Cloudcroft’s Western Bar & Cafe is one of the restaurants, cafes, drive-ins, and joints included on the 2011 New Mexico Tourism Department’s Green Chile Cheeseburger Trail. Restaurant owners, staff, and patrons were encouraged to vote for their favorites for inclusion on the Trail throughout the month of April 2011 and vote they did.

NM Rails-to-Trails Hiking Maps

NM Rails-to-Trails Association (NMRTA) was organized in 1994 in Cloudcroft, NM, with the goal of converting abandoned railroad lines located in the Sacramento Mountains of Southern New Mexico into multi-use, multi-access recreational trails.  The ultimate goal is to combine such trails with other trails to provide a sixty-eight mile-long loop trail that will lead from Cloudcroft to Sunspot to Oliver Lee Memorial State Park to Alamogordo to La Luz to High Rolls and back to Cloudcroft. Cloudcroft’s Hidden Treasure

The Sacramento Historical Museum and Pioneer Village is just that. An entire village from the turn of the 20th Century. This is one first class facility. Lightbulb Moments – Full Swing Ahead!

It’s always an exciting time when the Lodge opens the golf course on April 1 every year. Suddenly, the parking lot is bustling with people driving golf carts, wrestling with their bags, and slathering on sunscreen for a day out on the links. The deadline to vote for your favorite green chile cheeseburger restaurant in New Mexico is only days away. Voting officially ends at midnight March 31, 2011. Cloudcroft’s Western Bar & Cafe is one of the nearly 200 New Mexico green chile cheeseburger restaurants that have been nominated for inclusion on the New Mexico Tourism Department’s updated web-based Green Chile Cheeseburger Trail. Flooding Repairs Completed at Oliver Lee Memorial State Park

ALAMOGORDO, N.M. – New Mexico State Parks announces the completion of flood repairs and improvements to park facilities at Oliver Lee Memorial State Park that began in April 2010. The historic Oliver Lee Ranch House, the visitor center roof, the comfort station and the nature trail all suffered considerable damage during extensive flooding in 2006 and 2008.
