Santa Land is a FREE event for children of all ages at the Cloudcroft Pavilion. The event begins at 4 p.m. with booths, games and Mrs. Claus handing out cookies. The jolly old elf arrives around 5 p.m. riding a flashy Cloudcroft Fire Department truck.

The “actors” with the Cloudcroft Light Opera Company are set to return to the stage for their third and final melodrama of the 2015 season. “The Ballad of Gopher Gap,” begins the first of five free performances Friday, Aug. 28, at 7:30 p.m. at the CLOC Pavilion in Cloudcroft.
This family-friendly show is directed by Team Courvoisier, a.k.a. Tony and Becky Courvoisier, and their son, Scotty, a senior at Cloudcroft High School. Performances are Aug 28-29, and Sept. 4-6, and begin at 7:30 p.m., but attendees are encouraged to arrive early as the seating is first come-first serve. Read the remainder of this entry »

SANTA FE, NM – The New Mexico State Parks Division invites visitors to enjoy the last days of summer in a state park. “We have lots of fun activities planned for the weekend,” said Tommy Mutz, New Mexico

Fireworks Displays Over Lake Waters
SANTA FE, NM – The New Mexico State Parks Division invites visitors to public fireworks displays at nearby parks instead of lighting their own due to the extreme fire danger. Public fireworks displays will be held over lake waters at Elephant Butte Lake State Park, Eagle Nest Lake State Park, Sumner Lake State Park and Ute Lake State Park. 34 of the 35 New Mexico state parks are open and many parks have activities scheduled over the Fourth of July holiday weekend. I hope you can stop by the Mexican Canyon Trestle Vista on your next trip up to Cloudcroft to see it in person, but in the meantime, here are some pictures. Tom, contracting officer’s representative on the project, was at the site this afternoon when the whistle went off for the first time. He said it sent shivers up his spine and if we can send shivers up an engineer’s spine, we did something right! Now that the rains have hit the Cloudcroft area we can take a breath of relief. The recent moisture hasn’t stopped any of the events from happening, in fact it brought out the locals as well as lots of visitors up to enjoy the cool mountain air.
