Tickets Still Available for Annual Murder Mystery Fund Raiser Saturday Night

CLOUDCROFT, NM – Cloudcroft Light Opera Company (CLOC) is excited to announce tickets are available for its annual murder mystery on Saturday, March 17 at 6 p.m. in Cloudcroft. The performance takes place at the Cloudcroft High School Gym and includes dinner served by the state-champion Cloudcroft High School Culinary Team. Tickets are $20 per person with a dessert and silent auction taking place during the evening.

“CLOC stages an annual murder mystery for the benefit of various school and youth programs such as music and FFA,” said Cloudcroft Citizen of the Year Michael Shinabery, who is playing a small, broadcasting role in the mystery. “This year, CLOC is raising funds for the Cloudcroft Youth League, which makes it possible for mountain youth to participate in a wide-spectrum of sports.”

Penned by Ponder, Arlan Ponder, that is, “A Class Reunion to Die For” is unique in that the play’s characters are based loosely on actual 1988 CHS graduates. Some will actually make cameos as themselves. Additionally, some of the “old” faculty from 1988 will be introduced during the performance.

Attendees are encouraged to dress in costume (1980’s fashion) to add to the revelry. Prizes will be available for the best costume and best 80’s hair.

Child care is also available for $25 through the Cloudcroft First Baptist Church. For more information, please contact them at 575-682-2763.

Tickets will be available at the door, but the best way to ensure you are a part of the mystery is to pick yours up at the Cloudcroft Animal Hospital, Cloudcroft Village Office, Otero County Electric Coop or by calling 575-491-0914.

CLOC is an all-volunteer group and operates entirely as a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization. They perform three different melodramas in the summers at the open-air Cloudcroft Pavilion to provide visitors and locals with entertainment. For over 20 years, CLOC scholarships have assisted area seniors as they make their way toward an advanced degree. Through a partnership with Cloudcroft Kiwanis, the organization supports the Dolly Parton Imagination Library, which fosters a love of reading for preschool children by providing them with a book each month regardless of their family’s income.
