Lincoln National Forest – Prescribed Fire Update

LNFPrescribed burning operations are underway in January and possibly through the month of February on the Sacramento Ranger District.  Projects include:

-Cox Canyon, 162 acres of slash piles, located about 3 miles southeast of Cloudcroft

-Spud Forks Piles, 1200 acres of slash piles, located about 10 miles east of Cloudcroft near County Road C7 (Dry Canyon)

-Ridge Pile unit, 1100 acres of slash piles, located 6 miles southwest of Cloudcroft (along NM Highway 6563 in the Benson Ridge area).

77 acres were treated on the SPUD cheap nexium FORKS project on 01/06/14.

150 acres treated on the SPUD FORKS project on 01/07/14.

150 acres treated on the SPUD FORKS project on 01/08/14.

During the week of January 13th, firefighters will focus on treating slash piles within the RIDGE PILE unit, located 6 miles southwest of Cloudcroft.

Prescribed fire operations will be ongoing as long as weather and fuel conditions remain favorable.  Smoke may be visible from Cloudcroft and the surrounding area during ignition operations.
