High Rolls Volunteer Fire Department Hosts Agency Partners

 Community Meeting on Thursday, August 22nd

HIGH ROLLS, NM – August 19, 2013 – The High Rolls Volunteer Fire Department will host fire officials from the Sacramento Ranger District of the Lincoln National Forest and representatives from NM State Forestry and Otero County Emergency Services. The Community Meeting will be held in High Rolls, NM, on Thursday, August 22nd , at 6:00 pm, at the High Rolls Volunteer Fire Department, located at 39 Railroad Drive in High Rolls. The purpose of the meeting is to provide information about the upcoming fuels reduction projects in and around the community of High Rolls.  Resource managers from the Ranger District and agency partners will be available to answer questions about the projects and highlight the value of working together across jurisdictional boundaries.

“We will be providing information about a variety of projects that will be implemented in and around the community of High Rolls. The projects are specifically tied to fuels reduction goals, which will help minimize potential risks from wildfire. Large maps of project sites will be provided and we will share details about the methods we will use to modify and reduce the fuel loads,” said Tony McWilliams, Fuels Specialist on the Sacramento Ranger District. “We encourage people to attend the meeting, become familiar with proposed projects and fuels reduction opportunities in their community,” McWilliams added.
