Notes from the Birdhouse – The Dating Game

I have something I call a mating bag.  I often play the dating game with it.   Abandoned, lonely, and mismatched names all gather in this little bag of mine.  Some lay straight, some crumbled and crushed, some are young and new, others are old and jaded; but all are awaiting and willing to play this game with me.  I play mainly, no… always, in the winter.  This secret game started well before I married.  Some might call it an addiction.  It is a game I look forward to every year.  This bag is kept hidden deep within a closet that no one dares enter.  Just the thought of this bag sends goose bumps down my spine, maybe even a little drool finds its way to the corner of my lips, and then concludes with gloriously, sensual, warm feet. Plan Your Hunts: 2013-2014 Hunting Rules Available Online

The new Hunting Rules and Information booklet should be available on the Department’s website today. Prescribed Burning to Resume on Smokey Bear Ranger District

RUIDOSO, NM – December 30, 2012 – Fire officials on the Smokey Bear Ranger District plan to resume prescribed burning activities on projects around Ruidoso, NM, during the first week of January. Follow Me to the Senior Center Dumber Than Dirt

As we get older we’re usually a little wiser, and can keep our dumber than dirt moments to just a few times a year. However, this last November I had two dumber than dirt moments just a few weeks apart.

My first mistake was I thought Romney was going to win, so we bought stock the day before the election, thinking the market would take a nice pop to the upside. (That worked out really well.) My second mistake occurred right after Thanksgiving. Jo Ann and I went on a five-day cruise. You know how they tell you to turn off your cell phones and leave them off while you are boarding? Well, I did the first part, but somehow in my infinite wisdom I decided I would turn on my phone to check the time once in a while, because we did not wear watches.
