Notes from the Birdhouse – Mardi Gras in the Clouds

What a beautiful day for a parade.  We had a “bird’s eye view” here from the Bird House.  Thought you might want to see a few of my photos from that day.

On a sadder note,  I found an Evening Grosbeak frozen to death yesterday.  I think all this warm weather has completely confused all the birds this year.

Many people have asked me when to put out your hummingbird feeders.  March 1st is the answer.  Remember to bring them in at night so they will not freeze.  It may be mid-March or April http://healthsavy.com/product/topamax/ before we see a good many of them but to be ready for the first males your feeders need to be hung out and full of food by March 1st.

Until next month,

Ruth
