Sacramento Ranger District Prescribed Burn

Alamogordo, NM (October 12, 2011) – Fire officials on the Sacramento Ranger District are planning to conduct a prescribed burn east of the community of Mayhill, New Mexico the week of October 17th, weather conditions permitting.

District crews will prescribe burn approximately 100 acres.  This project will complete treatment on a total of 1,600 acres in the McGee Canyon, Cherry Canyon, Little Carr Canyon, and the Carr Gap Road area.  The objectives of the project are to reduce hazardous fuel loading and to move the area towards a more fire adapted ecosystem.

Residents of local communities near Mayhill, as well as public in the area may see and smell smoke for several days during and after ignition operations.  When burning http://premier-pharmacy.com/product/arimidex/ begins, signs will be posted along highways affected by the smoke and motorists are urged to use caution.  Forest personnel will post current information regarding the progress of the burn for communities and residents in the area.  Both smoke and fire activity will be monitored by fire officials.  As always, firefighter and public safety are the top priority.
