Recycling Center is Coming to Cloudcroft

By Sally Sutton
It’s coming! Cloudcroft will soon have a recycling center! The Start up date is currently this September. Along with Cloudcroft, there will be recycling centers in Alamogordo, LaLuz, Tularosa, Weed, and Mescalero. We will be able to recycle: tin cans, aluminum, plastic #1, plastic #2, mixed paper/magazines, and all cardboard.
Otero County Commisioner Susan Flores has asked, “Where should the recycling center be located in Cloudcroft?” Flores says the location needs to be very visible, accessible, well signed, and available at all times. County or Village land would be best. The roll-offs/county convenience station may or may not be the best place. If you have a place in mind, please send it to: sflores@co.otero.nm.us or talk to Mayor Venable and let’s come up with a location http://imagineear.com/pharmacy/generic-lexapro/ that works.
There is a Cloudcroft group that is supporting the recycling startup, and would love to have your participation. The next meeting is: Thursday, September 22nd, 4:30 p.m. at the Village Council Chambers. Recycling is a good and healthy thing for our community and environment!

Editor’s note: The Cloudcroft Recycling Center will be part of the Rural Recycling Development project funded by a grant from the New Mexico Recycling Coalition. Rural Recycling Development uses the hub and spoke model, which works by creating regional recycling processing centers within larger communities that serve as “hubs” and encourages smaller communities or “spokes” to deliver their recyclables to these hubs. This is good.
I have some old fuel and oil that I don’t want to use due to age.  Where can I dispose of this in a responsible way in the CC area
