Saturday, June 4th is Free Fishing Day – No License Required

The summer vacation season is officially upon us, and what better way to celebrate than a day of free fishing at any of New Mexico’s public waters? Saturday, June 4 is Free Fishing Day in New Mexico, a special day when the State Game Commission grants anglers of all ages, residents and nonresidents, a day of free fishing in public waters statewide. 2011 Update on New Mexico’s Black Bears

Sandia Mountain BearWatch is now twenty years old. Their mission when started, as well as today, is to help ensure a stable black bear population in New Mexico. “The Western” Makes the Trail!

The votes have been tallied and Cloudcroft’s Western Bar & Cafe is one of the restaurants, cafes, drive-ins, and joints included on the 2011 New Mexico Tourism Department’s Green Chile Cheeseburger Trail. Restaurant owners, staff, and patrons were encouraged to vote for their favorites for inclusion on the Trail throughout the month of April 2011 and vote they did.

Trestle Vista Construction Work Begins

Alamogordo, NM (May 25, 2011) – The next phase of the $1.6 million Mexican Canyon Trestle American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) funding project has begun just west of Cloudcroft, NM. Notes from the Bird House – The Dance

This past week I posted my last story that I had in reserve. I tend to get a flood of stories in my head and then nothing. I have learned that when it flows it is better to roll with it and write all the stories I can because when it is dry it is dry. All week I have been racking my brain to remember some kind of a story. Tonight, as I was soaking in the bath, I started to struggling with what to write again. I am trying to relax but the dang winds are so bad they are rattling the Hardy Board on the side of the house. Strong winds and no rain are a mountain resident’s worst enemy. Then it hits me….
