Village of Cloudcroft Implements Fire and Water Restrictions

Cloudcroft, NM (April 13, 2011) – Due to extreme drought and fire danger the Village Council Board of trustees implemented Level One Water Restrictions and Level Two Fire Restrictions for the Village of Cloudcroft. The restrictions went into effect as of Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at 8:00am.

Level 1 water restrictions
1. Water Emergency shall apply to all individuals and properties served by the village of Cloudcroft water system, including those properties outside the village limits.
2. No entity or operation served by the village water system shall waste, cause or permit to be wasted or applied to non-beneficial uses any water furnished by the Village of Cloudcroft.
3. No entity or operation shall cause or permit the flow of excess water onto adjacent property or public right-of-way.
4. Outdoor watering (spray irrigation) is allowed between 6 p.m. and 10 a.m.

Level 2 fire restrictions
1. It shall be unlawful during a Level 2 restriction outside of a fully enclosed permanent structure, camp trailer or mobile home, to build, maintain, attend or use a fire, campfire, charcoal broiler or grill producing an open flame. Propane gas grills are not restricted.
2. It shall be unlawful during a Level 2 restriction to smoke outdoors in any area that is not entirely free of combustible materials for a three-foot radius from the person smoking.
3. It shall be unlawful during a Level Two restriction to operate a two cycle internal combustion engine that is not equipped with a U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) approved spark arrestor or fire mesh.
